Skills

  • Ability to identify and implement supplementary revenue streams

  • Understanding of younger alumni interests and needs

  • Thorough knowledge of corps history and operations

  • Track record of established relationships with alumni of other Chicago-area corps

  • Serious academic work that positions drum corps as an idiom worth studying and preserving

Platform

As alumni of The Cavaliers, it is our responsibility to preserve our histories and the legacy of Don Warren for those who succeed us. By seriously documenting our heritage, we can ensure that all Cavaliers, present and future, can learn about and participate in our unique brotherhood. If elected to the CAA Board of Directors, I will work with the current CAA Board, alumni, and Corps administration to collect, archive, and preserve the oral and tangible histories of The Cavaliers.

initiatives

  • Bolstering CAA supplemental income by identifying, collecting, and selling desirable goods (e.g., vintage merchandise) at CAA chapter meetings or online

  • Developing a prototype of a Cavaliers digital archive, coordinating with CAA Board of Directors, FMMs, CMMs, and Corps administration

  • Demonstrating the potential and efficacy of this digital archive by a) Updating and expanding the alumni database into a more user-friendly format and b) Conducting, transcribing, and digitizing 5 oral history interviews with Corps alumni

Vision for CAA

I see the Cavalier Alumni Association as a space for FMMs to strengthen our ideals of brotherhood by sharing memories and histories of The Cavaliers. While the CAA currently uses social events and networking to promote this camaraderie, I believe that serious documentation of these histories ensures that future generations of Cavaliers will appreciate their unique bond to those who came before them. Accordingly, I envision the CAA investing in the preservation of our brotherhood and setting a new standard of member engagement among drum corps alumni groups.
