Perform in the world’s most exciting parades with your fellow Cavalier Alumni!
Dust off the old gears; it’s time to play with the Boys in Green again!
The Cavalier Alumni Association is performing in two of the largest 2022 Mardi Gras Parades and we want YOU to join us for the fun.
February, 26th 2022 | The Endymion Parade
February 28th 2022 | The Orpheus Parade
We’ll be wearing original, custom-made FJM uniforms (you’ll be able to keep yours) and performing 3+ crowd-pleasing tunes personally arranged by the 2021 Cavaliers Brass Staff. We’ll also have a full free day to explore New Orleans and its local food/beverages.
Our goal: Have fun, reconvene with our brothers, re-engage alumni activity for our 75th, and give two face-melting parade performances that every drunk person in New Orleans will be dancing to.
This will be a low time-commitment event that will only cost you $175 dollars in dues. Register below and read on for logistics / FAQ.
This event is only open to Cavaliers alumni. 2021 age-outs are eligible to participate. You must register by September 15, and pay dues in full by October 15.
FAQ:
What parades are we marching in?
February, 26th 2022 | The Endymion Parade
February 28th 2022 | The Orpheus Parade. Both of these are evening parades.
What is the schedule?
Thursday, Feb 24 | Ensure you are in New Orleans for an afternoon rehearsal.
Friday, Feb 25 | Rehearse (with plenty of snack & beer breaks.)
Saturday, Feb 26 | Endymion parade Saturday evening.
Sunday, Feb 27 | FREE DAY! (Corps rules do NOT apply, but local laws are still in effect.)
Monday, Feb 28 | Rehearse Monday morning, then Orpheus parade on Monday evening.
Where can I stay?
We have secured two hotel blocks at for two different price points. One is The Higgins, a Hilton boutique hotel, the other is the Holiday Inn Superdome. The Holiday Inn is the lower price of the two. At $200 per night, with two queen beds, it works out to appx. $50 per person. It may not be a luxury suite at the Ritz, but it’s better than a gym floor. CLICK HERE for more details. It is recommended that you book early as officials expect this to be one of the largest Mardi Gras ever.
Want help finding a roommate? Fill out THIS FORM once you’ve registered and paid your dues to be matched with another Cavalier Alumni roommate(s) to book a hotel with.
What are we playing?
We will be playing 3+ crowd-pleasing tunes personally arranged and instructed by the 2021 Cavaliers Brass Staff including Michael Martin, Kevin LeBoeuf, and Drew Dickey. The advice we've been given is "play tunes drunk people will want to dance to".
What are we wearing?
We are working with FJM to create unique uniforms for this event that you’ll be able to take home with you. We are currently looking at either a Cavaliers-themed baseball jersey type top and ball cap, or a custom screen-printed top. Each member would provide their own black pants and black shoes.
What about equipment?
Brass: Bring your own horn as much as possible. Through some fortunate scheduling, we will have the Corps equipment nearby so we can leverage some of it.
Percussion: We will be using the corps percussion equipment.
Guard: We will be able to use the corps’ poles and weapons. Still looking at silks options.
Who is organizing this?
We have a small group of alumni working to pull this together that includes Dale Young, Norm Dziedzic, Mike Green, David Littlefield, Austin Baker, Zeke Jackson, Nathan Huxtable, Ian Caldwell, and Scott McCoy. This event is fully supported by the board of directors as well as Monte and his team.
What will this cost?
Dues will cost $175 per person to cover uniform, equipment rental, some transportation and housing for the instructional staff that is helping us, van rental, etc... You would be responsible for your own hotel/housing and food (and adult beverages).
When do I need to register by?
You must register above by September 15, 2021, and pay your dues in full ($175) by October 15, 2021.
Who is this open to?
This is only open to Cavaliers alumni. Current marching members will not be eligible to participate (we will invite the 2021 age outs to participate though)
We do want to make this a "family" affair, so please feel free to bring along your spouse, partner, or significant other.
How do we get off the field?
It's a parade, there is no field :-)
If you have any other questions please feel free to send an email to Mardigras2022@cavaliers.org.
