CAA Board Historian

Nathan Huxtable (B.Mus./B.A., Northwestern University) is an M.A. student in Ethnomusicology at the University of California, Riverside. A percussion performer and educator, Nathan is a proud alumnus of The Madison Scouts (2014), Green Thunder Percussion (2013-2014), Cavaliers Indoor Percussion (2015-2018), and The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps (2015-2017), where he currently serves as the Cavalier Alumni Association community historian and archivist.

He also consults for the Marching Pageantry Arts Museum, a forthcoming community museum by and for the North American marching arts scene. Believing that music education opens new possibilities for creation, collaboration, and intersubjectivity, he has taught scholastic and independent marching percussion ensembles throughout the greater Chicagoland area since 2015, including Chromium Winds (2019).

His scholarly research explores the confluences of Asian American and Asian Canadian community, ethnic identity, racialization, and militaristic music-making in North America. He finds further joy in oral history, community archives, and digital humanities research.
